How It Works

A simple, secure, and efficient process for conducting online examinations

Complete Exam Flow

From institution setup to exam completion, ExamPortal streamlines every step of the examination process for both administrators and candidates.

For Institutions

A comprehensive step-by-step guide for setting up and managing exams

1

Institution Setup

Super Admin creates your institution account and assigns an Institution Admin. The admin then creates staff accounts and student accounts, setting up the organizational structure.

Key Actions:

  • Create institution profile
  • Assign institution administrator
  • Create staff and student accounts
  • Configure institution settings
2

Create Question Banks

Staff members create question banks to organize questions by subject, topic, or course. Questions can be added individually or imported via CSV for bulk upload.

Question Types Supported:

• MCQ • True/False • Coding • Writing • Multiple Select • Numeric • Voice
3

Create Exam

Staff creates an exam by selecting a question bank and configuring exam settings including duration, attempts allowed, access type (public/private), exam mode (self/exam center), and verification requirements.

Exam Settings Include:

  • Time window or fixed duration
  • Maximum attempts allowed
  • Question shuffling
  • Pass mark criteria
  • Registration deadline
  • Verification types (photo/video)
4

Assign or Open Registration

For private exams, staff assigns specific students. For public exams, registration is opened and students can self-register. For exam center mode, students select or are auto-allocated to centers.

Assignment Options:

  • Private: Direct assignment to selected students
  • Public: Open registration with capacity management
  • Exam Center: Center selection or auto-allocation
5

Publish Exam

Once all settings are configured and students are assigned or registered, the exam is published. Published exams become visible to assigned students and are ready for attempts.

Before Publishing:

  • Review all exam settings
  • Verify question bank is complete
  • Confirm student assignments/registrations
  • Check exam center capacity (if applicable)
6

Monitor & Evaluate

Staff can monitor exam attempts in real-time, review submitted answers, and evaluate subjective questions. Objective questions are auto-graded, while writing and coding questions require manual evaluation.

Evaluation Features:

  • Real-time attempt monitoring
  • Auto-grading for objective questions
  • Manual evaluation for subjective questions
  • Rubric-based scoring
  • Feedback and comments
7

View Results & Reports

Once evaluations are complete, results are automatically calculated and made available. Staff and admins can view comprehensive reports, analytics, and performance metrics.

Available Reports:

  • Individual student results
  • Class/cohort performance

  • Time taken statistics
  • Exportable reports
